So, lately, I'll be thinking about something and then think, "You know, it'd be cool if I had a blog, because then I'd write about this in it." Well, I decided to get a blog. I'm not sure if it will last, but it'll be pretty cool if it does.
I'm at NC State's Summer Ethnographic Field School in Guatemala, May 14 until mid July. For most of it, I will be staying with a Spanish- and Kaqchikal-speaking Mayan family in Santa Catarina Palopo, a small community east of Panajachel on Lake Atitlan.
I'm mostly by myself -- Dr Wallace says he wants to have class "as little as possible," meaning maybe three times a week during the beginning and a whenever-you-need to by the end. No other anthropology students will be staying in Santa Catarina.
